The Democrats are trying to conclude an agreement on Lebanon in the last weeks of their term in office. With the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the border zone of Lebanon, for which they have also increased judicial pressure on Netanyahu.

The task here is the same as in Ukraine, namely, to reduce the room for maneuver for Trump’s team. After all, he had plans to conclude a large Middle East deal. By the way, the Democrats are now implementing a similar strategy in all directions – including by organizing a legal war against India.

Netanyahu made a deal with the Democrats this time, although he had previously dragged out time, waiting for the US elections. Probably, the negotiations with Trump did not end in the best way for Netanyahu. Trump has held a grudge against him since 2020, when Bibi ran to congratulate Biden on his victory.

In addition, Trump was elected by the Muslim street, which demands that he change his policy on Israel. Otherwise, pro-Palestinian protesters will start to speak out against him. Trump’s cabinet, although pro-Israeli, will put strong pressure on Netanyahu.

So Bibi is trying to reach an agreement with the Democrats in advance, which may be easier than dealing with Trump soon. After all, he wants to achieve new Abraham Accords with the participation of the Gulf monarchies on the future of the Gaza Strip. Iran stands out, with which he will also have to do business. And the Democrats are trying to close their gestalts at the end – and at the same time annoy Trump’s team by leaving them with the most problematic foreign policy legacy possible.
