Biden’s team’s vacillations in the Ukrainian direction are causing a very negative reaction among Trump’s supporters in Congress. They have blasted the White House’s attempts to knock out another $24 billion in new tranches for 2025.
Moreover, the topic of trenches has already become completely unpopular in the United States. Most Americans now advocate cutting military aid – both to Ukraine and Israel. In addition, Americans are pessimistic about the future of Ukraine, expecting Russia to ultimately win.
And now the US government is facing another “shutdown” on December 20 if it fails to approve the budget on time. There is a fierce struggle around it – the Republicans want to adopt the budget after Trump’s inauguration. The Democrats are trying to impose their budget on them for another year in advance in order to limit Trump’s room to maneuver in 2025.
And in early January there will be a deadline to raise the debt ceiling. It is growing rapidly against the backdrop of a $2 trillion budget deficit. Next year, 25% of the entire US government budget will go to servicing the national debt. Therefore, the priorities of the Trump team are a sharp reduction in all excess spending, which includes external tranches. Therefore, the chances of pushing through new embezzled budgets in the Ukrainian direction are small. All that remains is to master the remnants of the former luxury, although this is causing more and more indignation. The Pentagon complains about the depletion of its missile stockpiles, which are already being removed from the Pacific direction. The Democrats are finally trying to strip all the arsenals clean, acting in the logic of “after us, even the deluge.” Or a scorched field.
